How it works

Activate your AI receptionist in 5 minutes.

  1. Step 1Sign up & Subscription

Create your account: enter your details in a few clicks. Choose your Essential or Business plan. Payment is secure via Stripe. No commitment: modify or cancel at any time.

  2. Step 2Business Setup

In your client area, bring your AI to life: identity (name, address, business type), knowledge base (hours, menu, services, parking), custom instructions for reservations or specific requests. Our pre-filled templates help you get started instantly.

  3. Step 3Get Your Receptionfy Number

When you save your business, select your country. For the United States and Canada, a dedicated phone number (voice + SMS) is purchased and configured automatically—usually within a few minutes. For other countries, our team assigns a number manually within 24 hours.

  4. Step 4Enable Call Forwarding

Once your number is validated, you choose how the AI should assist you. You keep full control. See options below.

  5. Step 5Managing Forwarding

To turn forwarding off, use your carrier's cancel code (common examples: *73, ##21#, ##61#, or ##67# — see carrier guides below). To check status, many carriers use *#21# or their account app.

When is your number ready?

United States and Canada: assigned automatically right after you save your business. Other countries: provided manually within 24 hours.

Enable Forwarding (The safety net)

Once your number is validated, you choose how the AI should assist you. You keep full control.

For the forwarding destination, use country code 1 + 10 digits with no "+" or spaces (e.g. Receptionfy +1 415 555-0199 → 14155550199). Codes below are typical US/Canada examples — your carrier may differ.

Option A: The Safety Net (Recommended)

The AI only answers if you're busy or unavailable.

*61*

If you don't answer (no answer / delay)

Many GSM carriers: *61*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*5# then call. Some US carriers use *71 + number. The AI answers when you do not pick up.

*67*

If your line is busy

Many carriers: *67*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*5# or *90*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*5# then call. The AI answers when your line is busy.

Option B: Full Reception

The AI handles 100% of calls (ideal during closure or holidays).

*72

Forward all calls (100%)

Common: *72+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*5 then Send (many US carriers), or *21*+1XXXXXXXXXX*11*5# (GSM). Every call goes to the AI.

Detailed instructions

Activate forwarding

On your phone (mobile or landline), dial the code for your option, then press Call/Send. Replace XXXXXXXXXXXX with 1 + your 10-digit Receptionfy number (no + sign). Example: Receptionfy number +1 415 555-0199 → use 14155550199 in the sequence.

Number format (United States & Canada)

The + key is not used in dial strings. Write country code 1, then 10 digits (no spaces or dashes). Example: +1 (415) 555-0199 → 14155550199.

Deactivate forwarding

Use your carrier's cancel code. Examples: *73 (unconditional on many US networks), ##21# (GSM), ##61# or ##67# if you enabled no-answer/busy forwarding. Forwarding stops immediately when the correct code is used.

Check if forwarding is active

Try *#21# on many carriers, or check your carrier app / account portal. You can also place a test call to your main line to confirm calls reach Receptionfy.
